Cobbs EH & Sketch
Ey up, yow lot! Tek a gander at me sketch o' Cobbs EH, right 'ere in the Black Country. Now, this ain't just any owd shed, it's a bit o' our industrial 'eart. Cobbs EH, this right bostin' 'ydraulic engine 'ouse, powered the Netherton Canals. Think on it, movin' watter, keepin' the factories goin' strong!
Growin' up, this place? It were a bit... neglected, like. Me dad's workshop and scrap yard backed right onto the Bumble 'Ole, now a nature reserve, but back then? A right different kettle o' fish. Me great gran lived next door, grandparents just a stone's throw away, all in Cooksey. This place, it's in me veins, innit?
These canals, the Bumble 'Ole, Cobbs EH... they're the proper Black Country. Forget the posh stuff, this is where the real graft were done. You might've seen it in Peaky Blinders, eh? They knew the gritty truth of this place. That raw power, that 'istory, it's all right 'ere.
And that's what I try to capture in me art. This sketch, it's more than just lines on paper. It's a tale, a connection to me past, to all our pasts. Check out more o' me work, and the stories behind it, at SJCooksey.com. Ta-ra a bit!
